We are currently recruiting for the following paid vacancies.
Director of Music
Following the departure of the current post holder after 14 years, a Director of Music is required at a mututally agreeable point in 2020. Interviews and start date will be by arrangement, as expressed in the How to Apply document
St Michael’s has a rich and varied musical life, with a traditional robed choir of adults and children, as well as a less formal music group, which lead the music for the wide range of worship styles that are offered. A full Choral Evensong is sung each month.
There is a fine 3 manual Walker/Manders organ (rebuilt in 2016), a chamber organ by Peter Collins, and a good grand piano in the church. These instruments are used both for worship and for concerts and recitals that take place. The music library is extensive, and has been extended every year.
The Director of Music is assisted by an Organist and Assistant Organist. The church is affiliated to the RSCM.
