Choir

St Michael’s Church has a fine musical heritage of which we are very proud, and it is one which we are determined to preserve for the benefit of our own as well as future generations.

03-Hero Choir Procession

We are always looking to recruit new1000044290 singers. All are welcome from age 7 to 107!
Please see flyer for more details.

Our robed choir is an important part of this tradition and continues to thrive, although we are ever conscious of the need to evolve and to continue to recruit new boys, girls and adult choristers into the choir.

If you or your child would like to know more about joining our choir, please click here.

There are also currently vacancies in the choir for adult singers (some Anglican choral experience or good sight-reading skills preferred but not essential).  Please contact our Director of Music, Nathan Collins at stmichaelsbsdom@gmail.com for more information.

St Michael's also offers a number of Choral Scholarships - for more information click here.

We try to ensure that, as well as gaining a musical education, children in the choir learn about the Christian faith.  The junior members of the choir meet in the Lady Chapel at the front of the Church for a short session of age-appropriate teaching and discussion during the service.  This starts at the beginning of the sermon and the children return back into church just after the Peace.

Choral Worship with Zoom
During the time when the church was closed due to Coronavirus and we were unable to sing together, Jonathan Newsome arranged and produced some virtual performances with members of our Choir.  In addition to instrumental pieces on the piano, organ and even lute, various solos and 'a capella' four part anthems from members of the Choir, these have enriched our Zoom worship on Sundays.  We thought you might enjoy them too:
