WeddingGetting married at St Michael's

St Michael’s offers you a beautiful setting for your wedding.  A church wedding enables you to celebrate this important occasion in the presence of God and to begin your married life with God’s blessing.  All are welcome to a Church of England wedding regardless of your beliefs, whether you are christened or whether you go to church or not.  A complication will only arise if one of you has been married before, or if one of you is a foreign national.  If this applies to you and you would like a church wedding, please get in touch with us and we can explore a way forward.  We would be delighted if you would consider St Michael’s Church as the venue for your wedding.  We can help you plan the occasion and can offer you marriage preparation and support in the lead-up to your wedding.

What do I need to plan?

Planning a wedding is a very exciting time but we also know it can be quite a daunting experience.  For your church wedding there will be readings and hymns to choose, as well as optional extras such as bells and flowers to consider.  The Church of England Weddings website and ceremony planner can help you with this.

We also host at St Michael’s Marriage Preparation, usually held on a Saturday.  You don’t need to come to this to get married at St Michael’s Church, but we really encourage you to think about some kind of marriage preparation ahead of your big day.

However long you and your fiancé have been together or lived together, Marriage Preparation gives you a valuable opportunity to reflect upon and together discuss the life-long commitment you are about to make to each other.  You can find out more about Marriage Preparation here.
