Choir

St Michael’s Church has a fine musical heritage of which we are very proud, and it is one which we are determined to preserve for the benefit of our own as well as future generations.

03-Hero Choir Procession

Our robed choir is an important part of this tradition and continues to thrive, although we are ever conscious of the need to evolve and to continue to recruit new boys, girls and adult choristers into the choir.

If you or your child would like to know more about joining our choir, please click here.

There are also currently vacancies in the main choir for adult singers (some Anglican choral experience or good sight-reading skills preferred), particularly at present to the Alto line.  Please contact the Director of Music, Richard Carr, for more information.

St Michael's also offers a number of Choral Scholarships - for more information click here.

We try to ensure that, as well as gaining a musical education, children in the choir learn about the Christian faith.  The junior members of the choir meet in the Lady Chapel at the front of the Church for a short session of age-appropriate teaching and discussion during the service.  This starts at the beginning of the sermon and the children return back into church just after the Peace.
